Dubai Modern High School is committed to provide career counselling and guidance services aimed to help students, parents and faculty. Our mission is to connect learners to successful schooling and opportunities outside the School. We hope to better student access to learning situations and improve parent and teacher understanding of issues relating to children.
Special Education Unit
The Special Education Unit or Resource Centre aims at identifying and resolving difficulties students face in school. These difficulties could be in the nature of specific learning problems like poor spellings, reading-writing difficulties, etc. or behavioural problems that interfere with the child’s learning in school.
The special educator or resource teacher plans and implements an educational programme that is best suited to meet the child’s needs. This individualized plan is in tandem with the regular curriculum the child follows in class. Counselling
Counselling at Modern High has a two-pronged approach:
- Helping students overcome emotional behavioural and academic concerns that interfere with their adjustment to normal school life.
- Equipping all students with a repertoire of life skills that allows them to face and effectively deal with different situations like conflict-resolution, decision –making, anger-management, dealing with peer-pressure, relationship-building etc.
Individual and group sessions are offered to students who wish to consult the Counsellor. Parents are encouraged to meet the Counsellor to discuss any issues of concern. Alternatively, Parents can email the Counsellor on counsellor@modernhighschool.com.
Career Cell
The Career Cell at Dubai Modern High School has been set up with a view to providing our pupils with services that will assist them in areas relating to choice of subjects, courses, colleges and universities.
Today excellence is achieved through specialization and high levels of performance. Making the best academic choices goes a long way in contributing to this. The variety of services, which the Career Cell provides, to pupils includes areas relating to:
- Aptitude Tests
- Career Guidance Workshops
- Recommendation Letters, School Transcripts
- Mid-Year Reports and Predicted Marks.
- Processing University application forms.
- Information on various Universities, Colleges and Courses in different countries.
- Interacting with representatives of various Universities.
- Presentations by University representatives.
- Interaction with professionals from Trade and Industry.
- Ideal choices of Universities, Courses and Careers.
- Choice of Subject Streams in Grade 9.
